Definition: Electronic Commerce (or E-Commerce), at its most fundamental, is any commercial activity conducted electronically.
Whilst many people think of this simply as selling over the Internet, it has a wider role to play in making your business more efficient or profitable.
For example:
- Maintaining a centralised list of suppliers within your organisation (for example, on an Intranet)
- Controlling and sharing stock information electronically (eg via a customer extranet)
- Managing any information or business processes relevant to your business electronically
